Today will solve some queries or myths formed due to COVID-19. Here we go without wasting time let's start the Q&A session...

1. How dangerous is COVID-19?

Most people causes only mild illness but if it can make some people very ill then more rarely, the disease can be fatal. Older people, and those with pre- existing medical conditions (such as high blood pressure, heart problems or diabetes) appear to catch COVID-19 faster. Protect yourself and your family and your neighbours from spreading this disease and keep precaution.

2. How to prevent the spread of COVID-19?

• Use soap and water, or an alcohol-based hand rub to clean your hand.
• Maintain a distance from anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
• Don’t touch your eyes, nose or mouth.
Cover your nose and mouth with your bent elbow or a tissue whenever you cough or sneeze.
• Stay home if you feel unwell.
• If you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing, aur any other medical problem then you must contact the doctor.
Masks can help us prevent the spread of the virus from the person wearing the mask to others because when we haven't got any vaccine the mask is the only vaccine. Wear a mask when physical distancing is not possible as well as when you go outside.

3. Does water flush out virus?

There is no clue that drinking lots of water flushes out the new coronavirus or the stomach acid kills the virus. However, in maintaining a good health in general, it's recommended to have adequate water every day for preventing dehydration.

4. Can COVID-19 virus be transmitted through drinking-water?

Although persistence in drinking-water is possible, there is no evidence from surrogate human coronaviruses that they are present in surface or groundwater sources or transmitted through contaminated drinking water. Generally, the viruse in the air are less stable in the environment and are more susceptible to oxidants, such as chlorine. It's not even proved about survival of the COVID-19 virus in water or sewage, the virus is likely to become inactivated significantly faster than non-enveloped human viruses with known waterborne transmission like adenoviruses, rotavirus and hepatitis A.

5. Heat makes the virus die ?

Exposing yourself to the sun or temperatures higher than 25°C does not protect you from this virus. COVID-19 doesn't matter how sunny or hot the weather is. Countries with hot weather and extremely high temperature have too reported cases of COVID-19.

6. Do someone catch coronavirus from the feces of someone with the disease?

Risk of catching this virus from the feces of an infected person is extremely low. While initial investigations suggest the virus may be present, spread through this route is not a main feature of the outbreak. The ongoing research on the ways of spreading of virus and will continue to share new findings. This is a risk, that's why it is another reason to clean hands regularly, after using the bathroom and before eating.

7. Are smokers at higher risk of contracting the coronavirus disease?

Smoking kind of tobacco reduces lung capacity and increases the risk of many respiratory infections.Corona Virus is an infectious disease that primarily attacks the lungs and smoking can increase the severity of respiratory diseases. Smoking slow down the lung function making it harder for the body to fight off coronaviruses and other respiratory diseases. Researchers suggests that smokers are at higher risk of developing severe COVID-19 outcomes and death due to lack of body functioning properly.

8. Does consuming alcohol kill Covid-19?

It has no such effect within your system when ingested but consuming alcohol will not destroy the virus, and its consumption may increase the health risks if a person becomes infected with the virus. Alcohol at a concentration (60% by volume) works as a disinfectant on your skin but not inside the body.

9. What are the most common modes of transmission for COVID-19?

The virus is spread normally via small droplets from coughing, sneezing, and talking. The droplets are usually not airborne but those standing in close proximity may inhale them and become infected. People may also become infected by touching a contaminated surface and then touching their face because of that the virus insertion in our body starts. The transmission also occur through aerosols that can stay suspended in the air for longer periods of time in enclosed spaces and it is most contagious during the first three days after the onset of symptoms, although spread is possible from people who are asymptomatic.

10. Will climate change make the COVID-19 pandemic worse?

Climate change may indirectly affect the Corona virus response, as it undermines environmental determinants of health. There is no proof of a direct connection between climate change and the emergence or transmission of COVID-19 disease so as you know the disease is now well established in the human population, efforts should focus on reducing transmission and treating patients in hospitals as well as at home.
Generally most emerging infectious diseases that is almost all recent pandemics, originate in wildlife, and there is that increasing human pressure on the natural environment may drive spreading of the disease. Strengthening health systems has improved surveillance of infectious disease in wildlife, livestock, humans, greater protection of biodiversity and the natural environment, should reduce the risks of future outbreaks of other new diseases.

11. How long do COVID-19 patients need to be isolated for?

It's important to note that the clinical criteria require that patients symptoms have been resolved for three days before release from isolation, with a minimum time in isolation of 13 days since symptom onset and must be properly checked that he or she is not having any symptoms anymore.
